A seasoned communications leader with deep Texas roots, Ted brings nearly 25 years of executive experience across journalism, public relations, and strategic communications.
Born and raised in Austin, Ted graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Journalism before launching his career as a TV news reporter and executive across Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri markets, including CBS Austin. He later joined Capital Metro as Director of Public Relations before spending 14 years as Executive Vice President at an Austin-based advertising agency, where he specialized in developing comprehensive public health and environmental behavior change campaigns for public, nonprofit, and corporate clients.
Ted is committed to community service. He currently serves on the Planned Parenthood Greater Texas Governing Board after co-chairing their record-breaking 2018 Annual Dinner. As board chair of Out Youth for four years, Ted helped strengthen Texas’s oldest nonprofit serving LGBTQ youth, earning their Bill Dickson Legacy Award in 2017.
His community leadership extends to co-founding Softball Austin, an LGBTQ-focused sports league, where his contributions earned him inaugural inductions into both the Softball Austin Hall of Fame and the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Association (NAGAAA) Hall of Fame. A Leadership Austin alumnus and former board member, Ted has also served Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas and earned two “Unsung Hero Awards” as Vice President of Public Service for the Austin Advertising Federation.
